Mee Godard's Côte du Puy has always been a wine of midnight blue for me: iridescent black ink, cobalt, gravel and shadows. The 2022 is, as always, fierce and proud and head-tossing and with a heart that tastes as if it's been carved from storm-lashed black marble. But there is a difference. A relenting. A glimmer of tendresse. The lines are finer, perhaps even showing kohl-smudge softness.
