Philippe Foreau of Clos Naudin doesn’t chase trends—he follows the rhythm of the vineyard. One of Vouvray’s most respected traditionalists, he lets Chenin Blanc speak in its clearest, most unadorned form. The 2020 Sec is bone dry but far from minimal: it’s layered, tightly wound, and shaped by the limestone-rich soils of Vouvray’s finest slopes.
No malo, no new oak—just fruit, acidity, and time. The aromatics are restrained now—pear skin, citrus pith, crushed shell—but the palate is electric: linear and grippy, with a mineral tension that carries through a long, vibrating finish. This is a wine that doesn’t reveal itself quickly, but rewards cellaring—or a long, slow decant—with remarkable depth.
