Cannonau is Grenache that tastes a bit fresher and fruitier due to centuries of isolation on the island of Sardinia. It is thought that the grape arrived in the 14th century, when the Kingdom of Aragon conquered Sardinia! This example is beautifully aromatic with notes of wild ripe red fruits and spice. On the palate, the wine has more body than the light ruby color would indicate, and the round acidity, supple tannins and warm finish make it a great pairing for charcuterie, anything grilled, and richer fish dishes.
