Il SorPasso Description
Il Sorpasso is a small winery in Carema, a tiny appellation at the Northwestern edge of the Piemonte, which borders the Valle D'Aosta. Vittorio Garda and Martina Ghirardo farm organically, but are also champions of not only the mainstay grape Picotendro (local varietal of Nebbiolo) but also finding parcels with seldom seen native varieties such as Neretto and Ner d’Ala. This is a lovely mountain wine, with pretty aromatics of rose petal, red fruit, and hints of anise. It's bright, with lifted dried cherry flavors intermixed with mountain herbs and minerals.
