The 2019 Bagual Vineyard Garnacha marked as lot #109 is from the vineyard in the village of Caliboro (spelled Calivoro in the past, as seen on the bottle), where the Perquilauquen River is wide through this section like a narrow lake, and this body of water along with the granitic soils lends the fruit a fresher character than neighboring Melosal or Loncomilla. In 2019, the wine is a little lower in alcohol (13.5%) than the 2018 (14%), and somehow the wine has more freshness but is earthier, less perfumed and a little more tannic. These wines mature in used barrels over two winters, and none show any significant aromas or flavors of oak.
