This is one of our favorite estates, producing beautiful Cabernet Francs on the superb clay/limestone terroirs of Benais. Laurie and Emmanuel Caslot are the thirteenth generation, dating back to 1640, to take care of this magnificent domain of 33 hectares. 2014 is considered a great classic vintage in the Loire for Cab Franc; this cuvée has freshness, tension and a little austerity. The nose has distinctive notes of black cherry, elderberry notes, and spearmint. The palate is still deliciously youthful, with lean and brilliant acidity, and oolong-like tannins.
