The origins of Rainwater are murky, but the most romantic claims that a barrel destined for the American colonies was left out on a beach where it was watered down in the rain. The colonists found it delightfully refreshing, and a new style was born. In the intervening centuries Rainwater's reputation declined, but true to The Rare Wine Company's mission, they've made a version worthy of attention. Made from a blend of grapes — Verdelho , Sercial, Tinta Negra Mole — it's only slightly sweet, with a soft, silky mouthfeel and notes of roasted walnuts.
