Pax Description
Tar, white pepper, figs, wet gravel, kalamata olives and dried plums. The fruit can be coaxed out with some air, but it is the spice and the olives and the tar which drive this earthy and old-world styled Syrah. Medium bodied and silky, unlike its predecessors this wine needs time to be enjoyed at its peak. There is no 2020 Hillsides and luckily for us this one is built to bridge that gap.

The 2019 Syrah North Coast is superb. A boisterous, forward wine, the North Coast Syrah is loaded with inky dark fruit, chocolate, mint, licorice, spice and menthol. The North Coast was done 100% whole clusters and aged in a combination of concrete and neutral oak. It comes across as a bit riper in profile than most of the Pax Syrahs, but for a wine meant to be enjoyed young, who cares?
