Familia Villalobos Description
Villalobos is 100% a family project, and 100% a passion project. People like to talk about “sauvage” or “wild” wines, but few are literal examples. Villalobos’ sources grapes from places off the beaten path: from a forest of fruit, where wild bunches 18 feet off the ground, from found, ungrafted, bush vines which they don't touch until harvest, from rescued old vine vineyards. The Conejo is 100% old vine Semillion from a dry-farmed vineyard in the Valle de Colchagua. It is an orange wine with 30 days of skin contact, but still comes out easy and approachable. Something green and fresh like grape must on the nose. In the glass it has notes of soft apple, pear and green papaya with a bit of lemon pith and white tea on the finish.
