This is a substantial wine, with plummy black fruits accented with a mix of composted earth and savory highlights. Sourced from eight vineyards, it was aged 18 months in 30% new French oak. The tannins and balanced herbal flavors suggest that it may cellar well over the next decade.

Spice-tinged raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by suggestions of musky herbs, vanilla and candied flowers. Appealingly sweet and focused on the palate, offering juicy, nicely concentrated red and dark berry and rose pastille flavors along with hints of cola and licorice candy. Shows very good clarity and spicy thrust on the finish, which delivers solid punch, harmonious tannins and impressive, floral-tinged persistence.
