John Gilman: 93 Points
Again, one is immediately struck by how red fruity wines such as the 2020 Beaux Bruns are from Ghislaine Barthod, as red fruit tones are extremely rare in this vintage. The bouquet jumps from the glass in a beautiful blend of red and black cherries, red plums, raw cocoa, gamebird, a lovely touch of smokiness, a beautiful base of soil tones and a deft framing of vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is pure, sappy and full, with excellent mid-palate depth, lovely focus and grip, ripe tannins, a sappy core of fruit and marvelous backend soil signature on the long, complex finish. Great juice.

Note: from a .75 ha parcel of 50+ year old vines. A more deeply pitched and exuberantly fresh nose speaks of poached plum, dark currant and more pronounced earth influence. There is impressive concentration to the sleekly muscular medium-bodied flavors that flash good power on the much firmer, serious and chiseled finish. This is very Beaux Bruns in style, which is to say a robust Chambolle though still a Chambolle.*Burghound Outstanding!*
