Saké isn’t just for sushi! It pairs nicely with all kinds of Western foods, including snacks and dishes you probably enjoy regularly in your home. If you’re intrigued but mystified by saké, or even if you’re already a saké lover, join us in the store for an extra-special saké pairing seminar at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22. You’ll taste six sakés we carry that represent common styles and grades. They’ll be paired with Western foods you're likely to enjoy in your own home, prepared by Chef Pam Cecere of Saveur LLC and New York Kitchen. Our own Marty Nott will present the sakés while explaining saké production and terminology, how to decode saké labels, and practical aspects of enjoying saké, such as serving temperatures, glassware, and use in cocktails. Sommelier Thera Clark will discuss the art of pairing saké with foods we can enjoy anytime and anywhere, including at home.
